January Tenant of the Month:
Christine and Steve Ostrow of Archipelago

Every month we are spotlighting one of our tenants here at The Wharf. This month it’s the magnificent owners of Archipelago, Christine and Steve Ostrow!

Step into their world of fashion to learn more about Christine, Steve, and their superb store Archipelago, where the above-average guy shops. Archipelago has all the latest fashion your guy could want, including denim, leather, swimwear, footwear, and more, plus enjoy a complimentary drink as you shop and a complimentary cigar with your purchase. Stop into their family-friendly environment and see what they can help you with today.

Where were you born and raised?
Steve: I was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up mostly on the West Coast. My dad was involved with the hospitality industry.
Christine: I was born in Payson, UT and grew up around Reno, NV.

How long has your business been at The Wharf?
Our business has been here since May of 2007.

What sort of goods or services do you provide?
We provide business casual attire for men in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

What does a typical workday involve for you?
Steve and I get to the store around 9am to go over the workday prior. At 10am we open our doors, and then we are here until close or until the last person leaves The Wharf. We treat each person like family and try to give them the best customer service while visiting our store.

What’s the most unusual thing that has happened to you on the job?
I had a customer that bought Saxx underwear for the first time ask to put them on before leaving the store. I directed him to a fitting room and moments later he asked if I thought the underwear fit….well let’s just say he came sliding out of the dressing room like Tom Cruise while asking. I told him (while looking at the ceiling) that if he felt secure enough to come out of the dressing room, they must fit.

What do you love the most about living and working in Orange Beach?
This community goes above and beyond to include all residents in the area when there are activities and events going on.

What’s your favorite annual event at The Wharf?
I really enjoy the Kids Win Fishing Tournament. Our three girls all participate, and they LOVE it! I love seeing the kids’ emotion at bringing in a fish, whether it’s as small as your finger or a couple pounds. The Marina Wharf Outfitters employees really do an amazing job scheduling and working with all the kids to make them feel special.

Other than your own store, what is your favorite place to shop at The Wharf?
Christine: I love to shop at a few stores here at The Wharf, so it all depends on what I am looking for at the time. If I am shopping for the children, I try to go to Khloe and Kate, Build-a-Bear, Seaside Shoes & Swim, or Fish on a Dish. If I want to treat myself, I go into High Cotton Bath Company, Lucca, or Shades. When I need something for Steve, I go to The Wharf Marina Outfitters Store or Shades.

What is your favorite restaurant at The Wharf?
Hands down Villaggio Grille or Ginny Lane. Unless my girls want pizza, then we go to The Market.

What is something that customers might not know about your store?
We have been producing Archipelago dress shirts for the last 7 years.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?
Steve: Golf or anything outdoors (other than hunting).
Christine: Drawing and playing piano.

What is your favorite food?
Vietnamese for both of us.

What is your favorite band/musician?
Christine: Skillet
Steve: Avicii

If you could spend the day with any celebrity or historical figure (living or dead) who would it be?
Steve: Babe Ruth.
Christine: George Washington.

If you won the lottery, what would you do with your winnings?
We would pay for all our friends and family to go on a vacation.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, we have a miniature schnauzer named Stoli.

Auburn or Alabama?
Neither. LSU all the way!
